About the project
A compact weekend cabin at the edge of the forest, built from locally grown larch and raised lightly above the ground.
The cabin sits on twelve small screw piles, leaving the forest floor and tree roots undisturbed. All timber came from a sawmill thirty kilometres away.
Inside, a single room is divided by a freestanding block containing the bathroom, kitchen and a sleeping loft above.
A wood stove and thick wood-fibre insulation keep the cabin warm through the winter with very little energy.
